Micro Residency — Open Call

hypha_etc invites educators, university teachers, and research groups to apply for a short-term micro residency in a quiet, natural environment, ideal for focused pedagogical work, collective learning, and reflection beyond traditional academic settings.

We offer free workshop space and accommodation for groups of 10–15 participants for 2–7 days, at our location in Câmpu Cetăţii, Romania, surrounded by forest landscapes, fresh air, and star-filled nights.

 

Location & Facilities

The hypha_etc space is located in the Gurghiu Mountains (Mureș County), at the edge of a beech forest. Accommodation is provided in apartments with 4–6 beds, each including a private bathroom and a kitchenette within the room.

The apartments are situated directly next to the community space, which includes a workshop / lecture hall, a dining area, a library corner, and a fully equipped communal kitchen.

Participants have access to technical and scientific equipment such as a projector, sound system, video camera, microscopes, as well as birdwatching binoculars and astronomical and solar telescopes (with assistance).

 

Who Can Apply

The open call is addressed to teachers, educators, researchers, artists, and authors with pedagogical experience who wish to lead workshops based on research, seminars, creative or studio practices.

We welcome proposals from across disciplines, including both the humanities and the natural sciences.

 

Application & Selection

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with continuous evaluation, until available workshop slots are filled.

The micro residency period runs between 27 April and 31 May 2026.The exact dates of each workshop are determined after selection, in consultation with the successful applicants.

Proposals can be submitted until 24 May 2026, subject to availability.Applications may be submitted in English, Romanian, or Hungarian.

 

Practical Notes

Food and transportation costs are not covered. Participants are welcome to cook communally using the shared kitchen, or visit nearby restaurants.After the residency, facilitators are asked to submit a short narrative report and photo documentation.
