The summer school was organized by the Historical Materialism Journal and Book Series in partnership with tranzit.ro/Cluj.
The program aimed to provide students with an overview of ecosocialism and Marxist critiques as they have developed over the past 25 years, while also allowing instructors to present their latest research. Topics covered included: historical perspectives on capitalism and ecology; fossil capitalism; Anthropocene and Capitalocene; geoengineering and rewilding; the political economy of energy transition; the Green New Deal, degrowth, and ecological political economy; theories and emancipatory struggles; and contemporary alternatives.
