The first edition of Zero Point Summer School, curated by Virág Bogyó and Ágnes Patakfalvi-Czirják, took place from August 6-11, 2023, in Câmpu Cetăţii, Mureş County. Over 45 young professionals and students from fields like design, architecture, social sciences, and humanities attended. The program featured two days of lectures and discussions, followed by workshops. Architects Sándor Guba and Péter Hámori led a session on creating minimal personal spaces; artist Rita Süveges's team explored the climate crisis through speculative "zero points"; and art historian Zsófia Jauernik guided participants in building and deconstructing real and imagined structures.
The lectures explored themes of turning points and utopias, examining architecture's response to crises, heritage conservation, and ecological perspectives on the Anthropocene. Biologist Anna Szabó led a field trip on biodiversity, studying local plant species and human impact on the environment.
