hypha_residency - Ari David

During their stay, Ari will continue their research project The Weather Report, which examines the weather forecast as a cultural and performative space. The project explores both the intangible qualities of weather and the familiar visual formats we use to predict it, examining how this shape the stories we encounter daily about our relationship to nature and the desire to control or anticipate it. The Weather Report looks closely at weather presenters, including their gestures, tone, and language, treating forecasting as a kind of performance that influences how audiences perceive time, risk, and the environment. Through the use of animation, performance, and documentary footage, the project brings multiple perspectives on how we experience, imagine, and relate to the weather and its forecasting.

Ari David lives and works in Rotterdam. Their practice explores how the social is inscribed in the body, engaging with themes of identity, collectivity, and dissent. They work interdisciplinarily with installations, writing, video, sound, textiles, performance and scent. Their projects unfold over time, drawing on conversations, personal experiences, and accumulated materials to consider how knowledge, particularly under Western capitalism, is produced, circulated, and embodied. Ari David works have been shown at WET Rotterdam, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, De Appel, Charlotte Street Foundation, National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Rijeka, Salonul de Proiecte, tranzit ro/ Cluj.
